Brycarda Alpacas continued 2019 by heading to the Western Canada Alpaca Championship Alpaca Show in Salmon Arm, BC. Brycarda's Bourbon placed 1st in both the Fleece Show and the Composite Show, both judged by world renowned Senior AOA judge, Jude Anderson. Brycarda's Isabella placed second in the Fleece Show (we did not enter her in the Composite show, as she is pregnant and we did not want her to travel), and Brycarda's Sauvignon Blanc placed fourth in very competitive Juvenile Female White classes for both Fleece and Composite shows.

Moving into autumn, ultrasounds showed us most of the ladies were still pregnant, but unfortunately, the one we were most interested in, was not. Freja had not held the embryo transferred from Chardonnay. The rest of the girls were pregnant and on their way to having spectacular cria for Brycarda Alpacas in the summer of 2020!

As we wound down the year, the alpacas continued to grow their spectacular fleeces, and I continued to make beautiful handwoven items from their fibre. Pictured here is a hand-dyed sofa blanket. This, and other items are available in our shop.
